The Blind Support Association (BSA) is delighted to learn, through the Dawn Newspaper report published on August 1, 2026, of the historic agreement between the Sindh Government and Aga Khan University’s Institute for Educational Development (AKU‑IED) to establish a province‑wide inclusive education system for differently‑abled persons.
This initiative, backed by a five‑year partnership and the creation of a Special Educational Needs Unit, represents a significant step toward ensuring that children and youth with disabilities have equitable access to quality education, professional support, and opportunities to thrive. The inclusion of specialised facilities, teacher training, research, and community engagement will undoubtedly strengthen the foundations of accessibility and empowerment across Sindh.
On behalf of the BSA, I extend heartfelt congratulations to all stakeholders involved in this progressive collaboration. We are confident that this model will serve as a beacon for Pakistan, demonstrating how governments, academic institutions, and civil society can work together to build an inclusive future.
We encourage our members, partners, and the wider community to read the full report published by Dawn Newspaper here: Plan to build inclusive education system for differently‑abled persons .
