International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2026
Blind Support Association (BSA) proudly joins the global community in observing the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) on 3rd December 2026.
This year’s theme, announced by the United Nations, is:
“The CRPD at 20: Building on Progress, Advancing the Future.”
Significance of the Theme
The year 2026 marks the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), a landmark treaty that has transformed disability rights worldwide. Over the past two decades, the CRPD has provided a framework for governments, civil society, and organizations of persons with disabilities to advance accessibility, equality, and inclusion.
This theme calls upon all stakeholders to reflect on achievements, identify gaps, and renew commitments to ensure that persons with disabilities enjoy their social, economic, cultural, and political rights without discrimination. Guided by the principle “Nothing about us without us”, IDPD 2026 emphasizes the leadership, creativity, and active participation of persons with disabilities in shaping a more inclusive future.
